Weathervane Winery gets its name from the influence weather has on wine production. They have developed 12 different wines--hand made in small batches.
The first vineyard at Westbend was planted in 1972. The 60 acres of vinifera vineyards are tucked into the countryside in the northwest corner of Forsyth County, where the Yadkin Valley begins. The name Westbend refers to the Yadkin River, which takes a bend to the west in this area and has given the name to the region. According to Robert Parker of The Wine Advocate, "One of the South's best kept wine secrets is Westbend Vineyards in Lewisville, North Carolina."
